If your looking to move to rent or buy in London it is certainly one of those places that really doing your homework is going to pay big dividends. There are loads of great places and you really do not need to live 'right in the centre' as London is so big.

@Mark - there are outer-Zone 2 Edwrdian terraced building apartments which are cheaper psqm than the "outside city centre" mean, so I'd take the City Centre as meaning Z1 and some inner Z2 (but not all)
